Espoused
Learning
I have
espoused learning. I have many reasons on why I have espoused learning. I love
learning new things especially when it comes to what other people find interesting,
I’m always open minded to hear what they have to say. The Masterpiece Academy
presentations from my classmates and I have taught me new things and I’m going to
express my thoughts on what I learned these past weeks.
I feel like most of us do deserve the high level of trust
because we’ve earned the privilege of being respectful to not just our classmates
but also our teacher. I, for example honor people’s trust and hope they honor
my because I feel that trust is a big part of life and can ruin a life or help build
a stronger one.
To start off a book that I read this year was Les Misérables.
A part of the book that described not just me, but my life was when one of my cousins
was abandoned by her mom to which now, we still don’t know who her mother is or
where she currently is. Also, another book I’ve read this year was The Bar Code
Tattoo. This book describes how a girl is pressured into doing something
she doesn’t want to do and gets bullied for not listening and doing it. I once
got bullied in school because I didn’t do something the older, most popular
girls wanted me to do which was fight a girl just because she was a bit different
than them. A part of me has been described and connects to many ideas talked
about throughout several books ever written.
I’ve connected to many things throughout the years with a
passion but got over a few within the time that has passed and things I’ve
grown out of as well. One thing that I can passionately connect to is the care
and love I have for others. I love helping others in any way, shape or form.
Something I’ve always wanted to do was become and am extremely passionate for
is hopefully becoming a surgeon or even just a nurse. Recently I have enrolled
into the volunteer program at the hospital which helps me boost up the confidence
and care for those around me. I love helping and giving back to those who
helped me the most and I feel if me becoming a surgeon can help save lives, I will
continue to strive towards making that dream come true and help others. I will continue
to find ways to learn more about my passion for becoming a surgeon and giving others
a chance to continue for what they are most passionate about.
Something abut literature or about this course that made me laugh
out loud was how people can talk about such an important topic but can still
bring out crack a joke which is related to the topic and make learning that
much more fun. For example, when one of my classmate’s day came to present her masterpiece
it was a bit funny to me how she made a poster after you said “posters are old
school” but gave it a twist and tore apart the poster which seemed to me like
she put time and effort into doing.
Throughout most presentations everyone had great content and
information to teach us. They communicated with us the audience I feel like especially
how Brayan showed us the different shade of blue that most dogs can only see by
turning off the lights. Another thing I found important that the presenters did
were inserting videos to the presentations for us to see and help us understand
their topic a bit more. A few more presentations that I felt were important to
me were probably Why school shootings happen? Are drugs used for their purpose?
Are phones helpful or distracting?, What is life? and Why are we sleep deprived?
Efrain’s big questions was a huge topic that has unfortunately gotten worse the
past years. He gave us a couple reasons why school shootings may occur, people might
want to get back at others, or they might not be mentally stable. In 2018 there
were about 24school shootings across the U.S only. Celeste gave us a
presentation asking us if drugs were used for their purposes. She let us know
that people abuse pills without us know and can cause the deaths of many
people. Over 128,000+ people died because of over the counter medications in
just 2013. Giovanny’s topic was also a big deal because it had to do with
phones either distracting us from reality or helping us in a way. Over 1.6 million
car crashes happen within a year due to people text and driving when they shouldn’t
be. A couple benefits from having a cell phone are for researching, emergency
calls and being able to communicate with others. Brandi’s topic was also another
big one because she gave us a definition of what she thinks life is to her and how
she lives it. ‘We may never know the what life’s purpose really is.’ This was
one of my favorite quotes because its true how we never know what might happen
in not just tomorrow but the rest of our life. She ended her presentation with
telling us to try to start off every morning with positive thoughts and a smile
on our face. The final presentation that I found was a really important topic
to discuss was Samantha’s which talked about why were sleep deprived. She
explained to us that what causes our sleep deprivation is because of the lack
of sleep we don’t get. Sleep derivation can affect our brain, body, mood, and
also functions.
I feel like I have completed my hero’s journey. I feel
pretty confident that I responded to the call of adventure with great
information and details to support each claim. I conquered a challenge which
was to resent in front of the class, it was as hard as I envisioned it to be.
‘All the world is a stage, we have to overcome.’
